Ingredients
Cinnamon Apple Filling
- 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
- Chopped pecans, as desired
Creamy Topping
- 1/2 container Philadelphia Brown Sugar & Cinnamon Cream Cheese
- 1/4 cup Cool Whip, thawed
- 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
Puff Pastry
- Frozen puff pastry, thawed, cut into eight 4 x 4-inch pieces
- Powdered sugar, optional, for garnish
Instructions
Make the Cinnamon Apple Filling
- Melt the butter in a skillet over medium-low heat.
- Add the sliced apples and season with the cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Cook for about 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Sprinkle the flour over the apples and stir until incorporated.
- Pour in the water and cook until the mixture is heated through.
- Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, and vanilla extract.
- Continue cooking for another 3–4 minutes, or until the apples are tender but still have a little bite. Do not overcook them.
- Remove from the heat and set aside.
Make the Creamy Topping
- In a bowl, combine the Brown Sugar & Cinnamon Cream Cheese, Cool Whip, and sweetened condensed milk until smooth and creamy.
- Spoon the mixture into a pastry bag or zip-top bag. If using a zip-top bag, snip a small piece from one bottom corner for piping.
Bake the Puff Pastry
- Prepare and bake the puff pastry according to the package directions until puffed and golden brown.
- Allow the pastries to cool slightly before assembling.
